Northport Village Election Yields New Mayor, Trustee
/Northport village voters elected a new mayor and trustee, and re-elected an incumbent trustee and incumbent justice, when polls closed Tuesday evening.
With both longtime Mayor George Doll and Deputy Mayor Henry Tobin not seeking re-election, there were a few new faces on this year’s ballot.
A current trustee on the board, Damon McMullen, ran unopposed for the mayoral seat. He won it with 1,078 votes.
Three candidates squared off for the two open trustee seats: Thomas Kehoe, a former trustee; incumbent Ian Milligan; and Joseph Sabia, a former Northport-East Northport School Board member.
Milligan was the top vote-getter of the three with 1,068. Kehoe won the second seat with 788 votes, narrowly edging Sabia’s 772.
“Thank you to all of the citizens of Northport for your support. We won. I won’t let you down,” Kehoe said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
Incumbent Northport Village Justice Hon. Paul Senzer was also re-elected with 966 votes.
Each of the terms is four years.
