A junior of Half Hollow Hills High School West was seriously injured last week after he was struck by a car in Dix Hills.

Suffolk police said the crash occurred at around 9:45 p.m., Feb. 14, at the intersection of Wolf Hill Road and Caledonia Road, which is just east of the high school.

Sixteen-year-old Abrar Shah Rahman, of Dix Hills, was walking on Wolf Hill Road when he was struck by the 2007 Ford sedan headed eastbound, according to police.

The driver, Caitlyn Kennedy, 23, also of Dix Hills, remained at the scene and was not injured, police said.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to the scene, where rescue squad members assisted Shah, who suffered serious injuries.

Rahman was brought via Suffolk Police Medivac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. He remained under the hospital's care as of Wednesday morning.

An ambulance, paramedic unit, first responder and three heavy rescue trucks were dispatched to the scene of the crash and were under the command of Dix Hills fire chiefs Tom Napolitano and Alan Berkowitz.

Suffolk police ask anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
