Cops: Men shot in Huntington Station, Greenlawn

Suffolk police are investigating separate shootings in Huntington Station and Greenlawn by unknown assailants this weekend that left two men injured, one in serious condition.

In the first incident, police said they responded to the area of West Hills Road and President Street in Huntington Station following a 911 call on Saturday at about 1:35 a.m. When officers arrived they discovered Nelson Hernandez, 22, of Huntington Station, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his back.

An investigation found that Hernandez was shot by an unknown person or persons while walking on West Hills Road near President Street. He was transported to Huntington Hospital in serious condition.

In a second incident, police responded to the area of Stuyvesant Street between Crown Avenue and Brand Drive in Greenlawn after a 911 caller reported a shooting at 12:01 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Aaron Jolly, 18, of Northport, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

An investigation by Second Squad detectives revealed that Jolly was shot by an unknown person while he was standing in the street. Jolly was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was treated and released.
