A large fallen tree blocked both lanes of Main Street just east of Route 110 in Huntington village for hours Tuesday morning.

Suffolk police said a call came in at 8:04 a.m. about the downed tree, which was split at its base.

By 8:15 a.m., police had closed the road. The road was cleared of debris by about 11:15 a.m., said Robert Matarazzo, an employee of Jos. A Bank, located across the street from the fallen tree.

It was not immediately clear what caused the tree to fall. However, Richard Ether, another Jos. A Bank employee, said he noticed the tree “was already tilting into the road” on Monday when he was out for lunch.

No power outages or injuries were reported, police said.
