Huntington Village Lacrosse Club Yields Record 10 College Commitments
/The Huntington Village Lacrosse Club has seen a record number of its former athletes commit to play lacrosse at the collegiate level this year.
The record 10 high school seniors all came up through the HVLAX program.
“We couldn’t be more proud to have this record number of HVLAX graduates moving on to play in college,” said Jennifer Maichin, HVLAX president, who added that the league serves players in grades K-8 within the Huntington School District.
The athletes (in alphabetical order by last name) are:
• Sarah Agrillo, of Huntington High School, who plays attack and has committed to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh
• Megan Bacik, of Huntington High School, a goaltender who has committed to Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire
• Sigrid Cassell, of Huntington High School, who plays defense and committed to State University of New York at Purchase
• Ryan Gorecki, of Huntington High School, who plays attack and committed to Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida
• Emma Greenhill, of Huntington High School, who plays middie and committed to James Madison University in Virginia
• Colby Martin, of Huntington High School, who plays attack and committed to Mount Saint Mary College in upstate Newburgh
• Maggie McGovern, Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women in Syosset, who committed to Misericordia University in Pennsylvania
• Elizabeth Pawlak, of St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, who plays defense and committed to Villanova University in Pennsylvania
• Izzy Piccola, of Huntington High School, who plays attack and committed to Pace University in Manhattan
• Amber Stieve, of Huntington High School, who plays middie and committed to Old Dominion University in Virginia
