A two-car crash Monday morning in Greenlawn killed a 26-year-old Centerport man and injured an East Northport mother and her infant son, Suffolk police said.
Tyler Gomes, of Centerport, was driving his 2007 Subaru eastbound on Cuba Hill Road at around 9:35 a.m. when he lost control of the car.
The Subaru crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 2016 Toyota 4Runner traveling in the westbound lane near 181 Cuba Hill Road.
Allison Raich, 33, was driving the Toyota and had her nine-month-old son as a passenger, according to police.
Gomes, who was traveling alone, was brought to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. Raich and her son were also brought to Huntington Hospital; Raich was treated for multiple broken bones and her son was evaluated and released.
The Greenlawn Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash with two engines, two ambulances and a first responder paramedic unit. The Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps provided mutual aid assistance at the scene.
As of deadline Wednesday, Suffolk Second Squad detectives were still investigating the cause of the crash, and both vehicles had been impounded for inspection. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
