Police: After Failed Attempt in Huntington, Man Robs Deer Park Bank
/Suffolk police are searching for a man they say made an unsuccessful attempt to rob a Huntington bank Tuesday morning and soon after robbed a bank in Deer Park.
Police said a man entered the People’s United Bank at 182 East Main St. in Huntington, at 11:51 a.m. and made multiple verbal demands for money. However, the teller did not comply and the man fled.
Twenty five minutes later, police say the same man entered the TD Bank at 2178 Deer Park Ave. in Deer Park, made a verbal demand for money from a teller. The teller complied with the man’s demands and the man fled southbound on foot on Deer Park Avenue.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, about 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a gray goatee. He was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and a red hat.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
