Police are searching for the driver of a car that hit a pedestrian in Huntington Station Thursday morning and fled the scene.

Huntington Community First Aid Squad spokeswoman Andrea Golinsky said the incident occurred in the driveway space between the Huntington Public Library’s Station branch and Sunny’s Discount. A police spokeswoman said the crash occurred at 10:05 a.m.

First Aid Squad responders discovered a 57-year-old man, whose name has not been released, “laying right in that area” and experiencing leg and back pain, Golinsky said. The man never lost consciousness, but first-aid responders collared and back-boarded him “just in case” of serious injury, she said.

Second Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating the crash. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
