One Room, Two Supervisors
/

The dining room at Honu was a who’s who of Huntington last Thursday when Huntington Township Business Council (HTBC) hosted a reception honoring the town’s two supervisors.
The reception honored Frank Petrone in the last days of his more than two decades (he was first elected Supervisor in 1993) in office, and Chad Lupinacci, the man who will take the seat in January.
The party was a festive gathering of movers and shakers from both – no, all – sides of the political aisle and gave HTBC’s members an opportunity to network and meet some members of the new administration. Lupinacci, the first Republican to hold the supervisor’s office since, well… since Frank Petrone was a Republican (he switched parties in 2002), and his running-mate, Councilman-elect Ed Smyth worked a room of familiar faces and new ones. Also on hand was the town board’s newest member, Joan Cergol, a Democrat who had been appointed the night before to fill the seat vacated by Councilwoman Susan Berland, and fellow Dem Kevin Orelli who was elected superintendent of highways and will take office in January.
HTBC, a political action committee launched prior to the recent election cycle, will represent the interests of the greater Huntington business community through government advocacy and activism and financial support to candidates who demonstrate support for its mission, according to founding committee member Bob Bontempi.
