PD: Woman Struck, Killed While Crossing Commack Road
A woman crossing Commack Road Monday night was struck and killed by a vehicle, Suffolk police said.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred at around 9:05 p.m. Police said the woman, whose identity had not been released by police as of Tuesday, was crossing Commack Road, between Delaware Avenue and Daly Road, when she was struck by a 2002 Cadillac that was travelling southbound.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
The driver of the Cadillac, 43-year-old Ronald Thompson, of Wyandanch, was not injured.
The Cadillac was impounded for a safety check.
One East Northport Man Killed, Another Injured In Single-Car Crash: PD
One East Northport man was killed, and another was injured, in a single-car crash in Greenlawn on Friday, Suffolk police said.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred at around 6:50 p.m.
Police said Michael Spera was driving a 1995 Nissan westbound on Clay Pitts Road near Stratford Avenue when he lost control and the car overturned.
Spera, 34, of East Northport, was brought to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger in the car, 36-year-old Christopher Walsh, of East Northport, was brought to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
Five, Including Two Kids Injured In East Northport Crash: Fire Officials
Five people, including two children, were injured Sunday night when an SUV overturned in East Northport, fire officials said.
The East Northport Fire Department and Suffolk Police responded to the scene of the accident on Larkfield Road near Cedar Road at around 7:06 p.m.
Along with the SUV, a car was involved in the crash, fire officials said.
The five occupants of the SUV, three adults and two children, were brought by East Northport Rescue Squad to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
One of the people in the SUV was trapped and needed to be extricated by East Northport firefighters, who used heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tools to remove the roof.
The driver of the car declined medical assistance, fire officials said.
Around 50 East Northport firefighters and emergency medical personnel were on the scene with four heavy rescue engines, four ambulances, paramedic responder and fire police, which were under the direction of Chief Dan Heffernan.
Two Men Burglarize Melville Church, Suffolk Cops Say
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the two men they say burglarized a Melville church in March.
Two men broke into the Presbyterian Church of Sweet Hollow, located at 95 Old Country Road, on March 19 at around 6 a.m., police said. The men stole a laptop, cash, hard drive and two blank checks from within a locked office, according to police.
The pair fled in a white 2009-2011 Toyota Yaris, police said.

PD: Two Thefts At Commack Lowe’s Earlier This Year
Suffolk police are seeking the public’s help to identify two men who they say, in two separate incidents, stole items from a Lowe’s store in Commack.
Police said the first incident occurred Feb. 3, 3 p.m., when a man, pictured left, stole a Dewalt Hammer Drill valued at $119 from the 100 Long Island Expressway store.
The second incident occurred, police said, on Feb. 10 at 5:40 p.m., when a man, pictured right, stole a Dewalt tool combo kit and a Troy-Bilt pressure washer. Police valued the merchandise at around $978 and said the man was seen driving away from the store in a maroon Toyota Camry.
