Florda Shooting: Resident Sent To Aid Recovery Efforts
/A Huntington family has once again stepped up in the aftermath of tragedy to aid those affected.
Donna Hlenski, CSW, was deployed with American Red Cross to Florida on Saturday.
She’s working at Family Assistance Center in Parkland as a mental health volunteer.
Michael de Vulpillieres, communications officer with the American Red Cross, said Hlenski is one of three volunteers from Long Island that have been deployed.
These volunteers were requested by name given their experience with previous deployments.
Hlenski has previously been deployed to aid those affected by the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
Hlenski is the wife of Tom Hlenski, DSW, who was deployed with the American Red Cross to aide in the aftermath of last year’s shooting in Las Vegas, the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting and the 2009 plane crash in Buffalo.
