A Huntington Station man is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal bar fight, according to Suffolk police.

The fight happened early in the morning of March 31, when one man was shot and killed and four others were injured in a fight at 105 Grados on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst.

Suffolk arrested 27-year-old Hector Gonzalez on Tuesday in Huntington Station and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Herminio Torres, 25, of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Police said the two knew each other prior to the fight.

There was no report of Gonzalez being injured in the fight, police added.

Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini said in a news release that Gonzalez is an alleged member of the Latin Kings street gang.

“The District Attorney’s Office remains committed to eradicating dangerous street gangs from our communities and cracking down on senseless gun violence,” Sini said. “We will do everything in our power to bring this individual, a self-proclaimed Latin Kings gang member, to justice.”

Gonzalez was arraigned and remanded Tuesday at Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip. He is scheduled to appear in court again Monday, records show.

Centerport-based attorney Keith Brown, who is representing Gonzalez, told Newsday that his “client maintains his innocence.”

Suffolk Assistant District Attorney Daryl Levy, of the Homicide Bureau, is prosecuting the case.

Police ask anyone with information on this case to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
