St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington hosted its annual homecoming festivities on Friday.
The festivities, organized by Assistant Principal Bro. Joshua Di Mauro, OSF, as they have been for the past 40 years, began Friday morning with pep rally. Along with performances by several Friars squads, homecoming Queen Sydney Leary and King Nicholas Roveto were crowned.
Later on that night, the Friars football team took on Christ the King before hundreds of fans at the school’s football stadium.
The Friars quickly jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back, defeating Christ the King, 42-13. Running back Heron Maurisseau-O’Neal led the charge with 73 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Meanwhile quarterback Greg Campisi connected on 10-of-10 passes for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Next up for the 5-1 Friars is a home game against 2-2 Chaminade slated for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
