The second annual Father’s Day Wiffleball Tournament in Greenlawn raised more than $8,000 for a pair of local organizations on Saturday.

This year’s tournament benefited the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul and Greenlawn Civic Association, which started a need-based scholarship fund. Donations were made by both individuals and businesses in the community.

Twelve teams participated in the tournament, held at Harborfields High School.

The winning team was made up of Holden Miller, team captain; Samuel Miller; Tyler Farrago and Justin Diorio.

Each year the names of those on the winning team are placed on a trophy plaque, which is then displayed at Broadway Pizza’s Greenlawn location.

There was also a Home Run Derby Contest, which was won by Matthew Gottlieb, who hit the longest home run with a 104-foot bomb. His 6 year old son, Nolan, won the home run derby with seven home runs. C.J. Finnegan came in in second place with four blasts, and Elijah Churchill’s won the Slow Pitch Tournament.
