Northport is heading back to the county’s girls lacrosse finals.

The Lady Tigers netted their second-straight county finals appearance in as many seasons with a 15-10 win over Riverhead last week.

Top-seeded Northport was fueled in the May 23 semifinal by Lauren Kenny and Megan Kielbasa, who recorded four assists and four goals respectively.

The Lady Tigers nursed a 5-3 lead at halftime. Fifth-seeded Riverhead tired to keep pace in the second half, but was ultimately bested by Northport’s potent attack.

Northport also saw contributions from Shannon Schmidt, who finished with two goals and an assist; and Christine Thomas, who finished with one goal and two assists.

Emma Conroy, Caleigh Kalmus and Delu Rizzo rounded out the scoresheet with one goal each.

Lady Tigers goaltender Sofia Salgado made seven saves to preserve the win.

Northport (18-0) has now advanced to the very end of Suffolk’s Class A playoff bracket, through which they’ve also knocked off eight-seeded Sachem East.

The Lady Tigers will look to keep their undefeated streak alive today, 5:30 p.m., when they’re slated to face third-seeded West Islip in the county championship game at Hauppauge High School (500 Lincoln Blvd.). There will be a $6 admission fee.
