The Town of Huntington Fire Chiefs’ Council recently presented the Chief Todd Sammis Firefighter of the Year Award to ex-Chief Jack Italiano Jr. of the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department. Italiano was recognized for his heroic actions at a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned car in the woods with a victim trapped that occurred in August 2015. He received the award with a standing ovation at the council’s annual installation dinner.

Italiano is a 35-year veteran of the fire service and served as chief of the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department in 1991. He is also a former member of the Huntington and Huntington Manor fire departments.
