With only two weeks left till Christmas, it wouldn’t be much of a celebration ripping open those holiday gifts without a decorated Christmas tree in the room. Here are some places where you can pick one up -- or chop it down yourself -- in the Town of Huntington.

Elwood Farm offers species like Norway spruce, blue spruce, Douglas fir, Fraser fir and Turkish fir. Owner Lee Itzler said the trees are priced by foot, with heights from 6-18 feet. Open since 2007, the farm grows its own trees, which Itzler said takes up to 10 years. In addition, Itzler said he also sells wreaths and garlands, and on Saturdays and Sundays, Santa Claus makes an appearance. The farm accepts cash and checks and offers to assist customers in tying their trees to the top of the vehicles. “If you want to cut your own tree, you need to bring a handsaw,” Itzler said. Hours to cut your own tree are Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dark and weekdays from 3 p.m. to dark. The farm is open every day to purchase pre-cut trees from 3-7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. If you can’t make it in those hours, Itzler suggests customers call to make an appointment. “It’s a very unique farm for our area,” Itzler said. “I have quite a variety, especially if you want good trees.”
