‘Wine Under The Stars’ Honoree Announced
/The Huntington Historical Society has announced the 2017 honoree of this its annual “An Evening of Wine Under the Stars” event, which is slated for Thursday, Sept. 7.
Mark McAteer, proprietor of Huntington-based The Laurel Group, will be hailed for the many contributions he has made to make Huntington a more beautiful place, with scores of pro bono projects. He also recently donated the landscaping work at Huntington Historical Society's new archives wing at the Trade School building on Main Street.
McAteer has long been involved with the town’s Public Art Advisory Committee and has made substantial contributions of design, materials and labor to create Grist Mill Park in Centerport and the Heritage Trail adjacent to Park Avenue, among other places. His firm’s work was also recently recognized by the town’s Beautification Council.
“Being honored is a great feeling. I am very proud of our town and its rich history and I am happy to do my part to improve it when I can,” McAteer, who is a graduate of the Leadership Huntington program, said.
HHS Executive Director Claudia Fortunato-Napolitano said, “We are truly excited to bring recognition to the person who is helping to enhance Huntington’s appearance.”
The 27th annual “Evening of Wine Under the Stars” will feature fine wine, food, live music, craft beer, raffles, and of course, history. It all kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Dr. Daniel Kissam House (434 Park Ave., Huntington).
