Dr. Alison Gail Rhein and Julie Lauren Stark were married Oct. 10 at Harbor Club at Prime in Huntington.

Rhein, 45, is a veterinarian in Huntington and the owner of Dix Hills Animal Hospital in Dix Hills. She graduated and also received a veterinary medicine degree from Cornell, where she was later inducted into the women’s polo hall of fame.

She is a daughter of Carol Heller Rhein and Dr. Harvey Rhein of Dix Hills.

Stark-Rhein, 40, is a psychotherapist in the Smithtown clinic of New Horizon Counseling Center who enjoys photography as a hobby. She graduated from the University of Maryland and received a master’s degree in social welfare from Stony Brook University.

She is a daughter of Kay Stark Smith of Boca Raton, Florida, and the late Allan B. Stark, and a stepdaughter of Theodore A. Smith.

Stark-Rhein said the two met a game-night with friends in 2002. A friendship grew and they started dating about a year later. The couple moved from Manhattan to Roslyn in 2004 and then bought a house in Dix Hills in 2006 after Rhein took over her father’s veterinary practice. The newlyweds have five dogs and two cats together.
