PD: Man Stole 800 Lbs. Of Used Cooking Oil
/A Staten Island man accused of stealing used cooking oil from two Huntington businesses was arrested early this morning, Suffolk police said.
While on patrol around 6 a.m. Friday, Second Precinct police officers Daniel Denig and John McAleavey observed Joskey Henry, 36, stealing about 800 pounds of used cooking oil from a holding container behind 821 New York Ave. in Huntington Station, police said.
New York Pizza and New China Restaurant, police said, deposit their used cooking oil in the container, which is owned by Darling International, a New Jersey-based recycling company. Both eateries are located in the “Big H” shopping center.
Henry, of Staten Island, was charged with one count of petit larceny and his vehicle was impounded, police said.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
