A Huntington Station man was arrested for allegedly stalking a 13-year-old girl for “more than a month,” Suffolk police said.

Celso Garcia Mendez approached the girl and handed her a note as she was walking to her bus stop on Sixth Avenue in Huntington Station on Friday at around 7:30 a.m., according to police.

Garcia Mendez, 25, who lives on Sixth Avenue, left in a silver Chrysler sedan, police said. Officers obtained a description of him, conducted a canvass of the area and identified him.

An investigation by the Second Precinct Crime Section officers determined Garcia Mendez had approached and attempted to communicate with the teen, who previously asked him to stop, near her bus stop for around one month, according to police.

Garcia Mendez was charged with fourth-degree stalking and endangering the welfare of a child.

He arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday with bail set at $500 cash, $1,000 bond, which was not posted. Garcia Mendez, who is being represented by a legal aid, was scheduled to appear again Wednesday after deadline.
