DA: Huntington Camp Worker Faces 25 Years Over Child Porn

A former employee of a Melville day camp for children has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for possession of child pornography.

David Greenberg, 37, pleaded guilty in August to four counts of possession of sexual performance by a child, said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. Two of the four child porn possession counts involved two campers under the age of 16. Greenberg was employed at Camp Kenwal in Melville.

Spota said a sentencing recommendation of 25 years in state prison was made at the sentencing Tuesday before Judge Barbara Kahn in Riverhead.

FD: Car Struck Tree, Overturned In Elwood

A car struck a tree and overturned on an Elwood road last week, fire officials said.

The Greenlawn Fire Department was dispatched to the reported accident at Cuba Hill Road and Elbomar Drive near Elwood Park at around 1:02 a.m., Oct. 10.

The single vehicle was found to have veered off the road hitting an embankment, striking a tree and overturning back into the roadway, fire officials said. The single occupant was able to exit the vehicle prior to firefighters arriving at the scene.

Greenlawn Rescue Squad EMS crews treated and brought the patient to Huntington Hospital.

Fire crews stabilized the vehicle and a paramedic responder assisted on scene.

Units were under the direction of Chief Mike Bellis, assisted by 2nd Assistant Chief Angelo Santomauro, 3rd Assistant Chief Peter Miller and Duty Officer Lt. Rich Jones.

PD: Man Wanted For Questioning In Melville Robbery

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who is wanted for questioning regarding an attempted robbery that occurred in Melville earlier this year.

A woman was walking on Walt Whitman Road, near Arlington Street, on May 26 at around 1 p.m. when she was thrown to the ground as a man tried to grab her pocketbook, which was secured across her chest.

The man fled in a light-blue late-model BMW with a sun roof and Illinois plates, also pictured. There were at least two other men in the vehicle, police said. The men are described as white or Hispanic.

The man pictured, who is wanted for questioning, is described as a male in his 20s with short dark hair.
