A motorcycle burst into flames Saturday morning after it collided with a car in Huntington Station, fire officials said.

The crash occurred at around 11 a.m. on East Jericho Turnpike, opposite of Best Market. Traffic was closed between Beverly Road and Totten Avenue as emergency personnel responded.

The motorcyclist was transported to Nassau University Medical Center by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad and Huntington Manor firefighters extinguished flames that engulfed the motorcycle.

Both Huntington Manor Fire Department and the Suffolk police responded to the crash. Huntington Manor supplied around 25 firefighters, three engines and a heavy rescue truck under the direction of Chief Frank McQuade and assistant chiefs Mike DePasquale and Chuck Brady.
