Huntington LIRR Garage Renovations Resume Monday
/The second level of the south parking garage at the Huntington Long Island Rail Road station will be closed for an estimated five week starting Monday as the waterproofing project continues.
The overall project garage rehabilitation project began last year, and waterproofing was completed on the upper levels. However, work was suspended due to winter weather.
Following the second floor closure, the fifth, fourth and third levels will be closed for one week each to complete detail work related to the project, including pavement markings. Work on the stair tower and handicap ramps will also commence. There will never be more than one floor closed at a time, town officials said.
Parking is expected to be available in the surface parking lot on the west side of New York Avenue between Railroad and Church Streets, Town of Huntington officials said. However, commuters are advised to allow some extra time to walk to the station.
