After an unsuccessful bid to win the Democratic nomination for Huntington town supervisor, Darryl St. George has thrown his support behind fellow Democrat and Huntington Councilwoman Tracey Edwards.
The endorsement came a week after the Democratic primary for supervisor. St. George said it was important for him to sit down and talk with Edwards prior to offering his formal endorsement.
“The councilwoman reaffirmed her support for term limits, the need to really engage people in the political process, and campaign finance reform,” St. George said.
St. George said that he feels comfortable offering his endorsement because after their meeting he and Edwards were able to find some common ground on the prominent issues of the St. George platform.
He added that he’s “very proud of what our supporters were able to achieve. It was a difficult outcome, but after everything was said and done it’s important to have unity.”
After her primary victory, Edwards said she was looking forward to a meeting with St. George to begin working together.
Edwards said, “I believe that Democrats will come together to have the best chance in November.”
