Bicyclist struck by SUV in Huntington, seriously injured

A bicyclist was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after he was struck by an SUV in Huntington, Suffolk police said.

Paul McQueen, 54, of Huntington Station, was riding a bicycle northbound on Park Avenue, north of Dix Hills Road, when he apparently turned into the path of a 2000 Jeep driven by John Heyman, , 75, of Huntington, and was struck at around 4:15 p.m., police said.

McQueen was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition. Heyman was not injured in the crash.

Heyman’s vehicle was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
