Suffolk Police Officer Delivers Baby Girl

A Suffolk County police officer helped deliver a baby girl in Dix Hills early yesterday morning after police another officer responded to a vehicle stopped on the side of the road on Deer Park Avenue.
Second Precinct Patrol Officer Joseph Ferro was on patrol when he spotted the vehicle, just south of Jericho Turnpike, at 2:08 a.m. Wednesday. Ferro was told by the driver that his wife, 32, was in labor. Officer Gerard Maxim and Officer Jonathan Murray, who was driving patrol vehicle No. 221, also responded to the scene. Murray assisted the mother in delivering a healthy baby girl at 2:21 a.m.
The Dix Hills couple and their baby girl were transported via Huntington Community First Aid Squad to Huntington Hospital.
