Tiptoeing Through The Tulips At Heckscher

The 18th Annual Huntington Tulip Festival was held Sunday in Heckscher Park, the beauty of which was enhanced by thousands of newly-planted tulips.

In addition to the abundant, bright tulips, which serve as the festival's main attraction, there were activity booths for children and live entertainment.

Also on display were works of the winners of the 2018 Tulip Festival School Art Contest organized by the Huntington Arts Council.

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, the founder of the festival, and NEFCU, the chief sponsor of the festival, organized the day of fun.

Town's Annual Photo Contest Now Underway

Since its inception in 2001, the annual Huntington Tulip Festival has included a photography contest for both amateurs and professionals. Entries to the 2018 contest are now being accepted.

The contest is designed to encourage both town residents and visitors to photograph elements of the annual community event, and to enable the best of these images to be used in future publicity.

Entries, which must be postmarked or received by July 31, 2018, must be unmounted, 8-by-10-inch photographic color prints. They should express the spirit of the festival. There is a maximum of two entries per photographer.

There are also cash prizes for the first, second and third place winners.
