Coming on the heels of star New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. joining Huntington-based Roar Beverages as a national company spokesperson, the company released last week its first product in a planned series of sports drinks through the partnership.
Roar says OBJXIII is an all-natural coconut water-based sports drink that melds strawberry and watermelon flavoring with a mix of B-Vitamins and electrolytes. The beverage was made available for purchase on Roar’s website (drinkroar.com) Sept. 22.
“This has truly been an unbelievable experience and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with the people at ROAR Beverages,” Beckham Jr. said in a press release. “To see your vision come to life and know that the product is going to benefit the next generation of sports drink enthusiasts is something I am proud of and stand behind 110 percent.”
Four games into the young 2015-16 NFL season, Beckham Jr. leads the Giants (2-2) in receiving yards (307) and is tied with fellow receiver Rueben Randle for total touchdowns (2).
But, as productive as Beckham Jr. has been on the field, Roar CEO Roly Nesi said OBJXIII encompasses more than just the receiver’s athletic prowess.
“We have worked with Odell to create a product that is superior in hydration and vitamin packed that is tailored for his on the field needs and also matches up to his personal style and attitude that represents Odell off the field,” he said in a press release. “Odell has been an unbelievable partner throughout every step of the process from label design to flavor profile; this new product is our version of a one-handed game changing catch.”
