A tractor trailer pulled down a tree on New York Avenue in Huntington village Thursday morning after the tree’s limbs got stuck in between the truck’s cab and trailer, Suffolk police said
A police spokeswoman said truck’s driver, who is from Missouri, was looking for an address when the incident occurred at around 7:55 a.m. in front of the shuttered Diamond Boutique. The fallen tree also knocked down a lamp post.
Alanna Black, a cashier at nearby Value Drugs, said the tree was in the process of being removed at around 9 a.m.
Ed Guerrero, a spokesman with the state Department of Transportation, said the tree was cleared from the state road by Town of Huntington crews before noon.
No one was injured in the incident, police said.
Even as Hurricane Joaquin is now tracking east of Long Island, the Town of Huntington is preparing for the worst while certain areas along the North Shore were getting hit Friday by surging waves.
