Police said that 26-year-old Philander White was arrested at 1:40 p.m. on July 23 at the intersection of Route 454 and Broadway in Holbrook and charged with assault.
At the time of the incident, police said officers responded to 66 11th Ave. after a 911 caller reported a shooting at 8:15 p.m. When they arrived, officers discovered Luis Hernandez, of Huntington Station, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his leg.
An investigation by Second Squad detectives revealed that Hernandez was while he was standing in the street in front of the house. Hernandez was transported to Huntington Hospital in stable condition.
