The Fantasy Coach
Every week, managers of Fantasy Football address multiple decisions to their rosters. My goal is to take my 12 years of Fantasy sports experience and present an abstract view on Fantasy news. Check back every week for “The Fantasy Coach” as I provide a player at each position that could surprise (“Flames”) or put tears in your eyes (“Lames”).
Week 11 Flames
QB: Russell Wilson vs. MIN
Over the past four weeks you couldn’t have asked for more; in each week he has passed for at least two scores. Out of all the quarterback matchups Wilson makes the most sense, as he is going up against Minnesota’s league worst pass defense.
RB: Andre Brown vs. GB
The Giants look determined to stick with the run, even when calling plays from shotgun. Brown received 30 carries in just his first game back; from now through the end of the year he will pick up the offense’s slack.
WR: Larry Fitzgerald @ JAX
Larry and the Cardinals have had a full week to prepare for a Jaguars team who have done little to scare. Fitzgerald is too talented to be playing this poor, and this matchup for him, I just adore.
TE: Antonio Gates @ MIA
Gates has been quiet over the past few weeks, but Miami is a mess – expect him to break the streak. The Chargers should pass all over this team, so look for Antonio to dominate the seam.
DEF: Buffalo vs. NYJ
The Jets have yet to win two games in a row, and the Bills defense is tough in Buffalo. I still don’t trust Geno Smith and the rest of the gang; if the Jets are the Yin I will go with the Yang.
Week 11 Lames
QB: Ryan Tannehill vs. SD
This offense is a complete disaster, and with their current personnel I’m not sure there is an answer. Tannehill can’t seem to stay on his feet, keeping him from lighting up the Fantasy score sheet.
RB: Knowshon Moreno vs. KC
Knowshon has been a great play but I must advise, the Chiefs defense will be all over him like stubborn barflies. Maybe he’ll sneak into the end zone, but to expect that production is a bit overblown.
WR: Dwayne Bowe @ DEN
This week he was ticketed for drug use and speeding his car, which is the most excitement and press that he’s gotten so far. He is on a short list of Fantasy busts; even in a good matchup, you cannot give him your trust.
TE: Tony Gonzalez @ TB
The savvy old veteran is on the injury list and starting him might be too hard to resist. But with Roddy White back and an offense in shambles, the future hall-of-famer is too much of a gamble.
DEF: Kansas City @ DEN
If the Chiefs can shut down Manning and the crew, they will be kings of the NFL with no one to argue. This will be easier said than done; making the Broncos turn it over would surely stun.
