Seahawks Scoot Into Playoffs 

The Lady Seahawks supported breast cancer awareness at their home game against North Shore High School on Oct. 16.

The Cold Spring Harbor varsity field hockey team’s 6-1 victory over New Hyde Park on Tuesday sealed them a spot in this year’s playoffs.

Sophomore Lauren Paolano scored a career high of 3 goals to lead the Lady Seahawks to their win.

“Offensively we are led by forward Lauren Paolano,” Head Coach Danielle Skakandi said. “She’s a big, tall finisher with a hard hit.”

Skakandi also noted Alison Croasdale, Bridget Bouse, Haley Crosson and Shannon Logan as key contributors to the team’s midfield and offense.

Croasdale scored 2 goals and added an assist for Cold Spring Harbor. Bouse also scored a goal. Crosson had 3 assists, and Logan added one as well.

“Shannon Logan has been the most consistent player all season long,” Skakandi said. “She plays center middie and is all over the field.”

Tuesday’s game ended the Lady Seahawks’ regular season with a 5-5 record and a last seed placement in playoffs.

On Oct. 19, Cold Spring Harbor had anther big win in a 3-0 victory over Floral Park to end their regular season strong.

Freshman Briana Weinstein scored her first varsity goal in the game, and Paolano and Maggie Hill each added a goal.

The Lady Seahawks are confident heading into the playoffs that they can hold their own, given their performances this season.

“We are now looking to make a run in the post-season and have lost to every team that is ahead of us only by 1 goal – most games, in the final minutes,” Skakandi said. “We have proven that we can play with all these tough teams.”
