Fall In Love On Feb. 14, With Food

Foodie_ValDay

There are those that say there is no love more sincere than the love of food; we would have to agree. So if you’re in love with food on Valentine’s Day, or have a special someone to love whom you would also like to wine and dine, here are some of our favorite spots that have special things planned for Feb. 14.

Be-Ju Sashimi & Sake Bar and Jewel
Master Chef Tom Schaudel’s new venture, Be-Ju Sashimi and Sake Bar, inside Jewel Restaurant (400 Broadhollow Road, Melville, 631-755-0555) will certainly make you fall in love with sushi all over again. Enjoy a special 11-course Omakase dinner (that means chef’s choice), paired with or without wines on Feb. 14. Or if it’s chocolate you love, Jewel (631-755-5777, www.jewelrestaurantli.com) is again working with Roxanne Browning, New York’s chocolate sommelier from Exotic Chocolate Tasting, to create a unique, chocolate-themed five-course dinner with chocolate and Schaudel’s reserve wine pairings on Feb. 10. $110 p.p. plus tax and tip. Reservations required.

Bistro 44
After a revamp a few years back, Bistro 44 (44 Main St., Northport, 631-262-9744 www.bistro44.net) is great for a casual but romantic night out. We dig it for the awesome food. It’s Old World charm meets modern chic, raising the bar for New American cuisine.

Porto Vivo
Porto Vivo (7 Gerard St., Huntington 631-385-8486 porto-vivo.com) extends Valentine’s Day to a three-day gustatory delight by Executive Chef Joseph Balbo, with a special “flirtatious” menu. The romantic setting and stellar wine list add to the appeal.

Ruvo
Ruvo (63 Broadway, Greenlawn, 631-261-7700, www.ruvorestaurant.com) encourages you to “Eat the Apple of LOVE” with an extended Valentine’s play, offering a special menu all weekend. Or, if you’re more interested in impressing your special someone at home, Ruvo’s chefs will prepare fresh seafood, butchered meats and heart-shaped ravioli; all you have to do is cook it. Call Ruvo Market in Greenlawn at ext. 2 to place your order.

Jonathan’s Ristorante
Chef Tito tells us he will add romance-minded specials on Feb. 14 to the regular a la carte menu at Jonathan’s Ristorante (15 Wall St., Huntington 631-549-0055).

Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar
Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar (54 New St., Huntington 631-385-1919 vitaeli.com) continues its tradition with a $60 p.p. Valentine’s Day prix-fixe menu for Feb. 14. The three-course menu includes some of our favorites, like Vitae Lobster Bisque, Blue Point oysters, braised short rib meatball “lollipops”, seared Diver sea scallops with shrimp and chorizo “paella,” crab-crusted sole and more. See the full menu online.

Prime – An American Kitchen and Bar
With ambiance, exquisite cuisine, a world-class wine list and a one-of-a-kind view of Huntington Harbor, Prime (117 New York Ave., Huntington 631-385-1515 restaurantprime.com) is always a treat for all your senses, not to mention the restaurant with the best view of the water in town.

Mascali Cuisine & Market
We hear our friends at Mascali Cuisince & Market (277 Larkfield Road, East Northport, 631-757-2404 www.mascali-restaurant.com) have quite the personality when it comes to Valentine’s Day, thanks to a tip we received on our DineHuntington Facebok page. Heart-shaped ravioli we’ve heard of, and apparently Mascali will have plenty. But pink cappuccinos? That’s a new one, but perfect for the season.
