DA: Man Beat Victim With Metal Bat
A Huntington Station man is accused of beating a woman with a metal bat and raping her earlier this month, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office has confirmed.
Rigoberto Orellana, 47, of Huntington Station, was arraigned before Judge Barbara Kahn Wednesday on four felonies, including first-degree rape by forcible compulsion, first-degree criminal sexual act by forcible compulsion, assault with a weapon with intent to cause physical injury, and sexual abuse.
According to the DA’s office, Orellana allegedly punched the woman repeatedly in the head, struck her in the head and arms with a metal baseball bat, and raped and sodomized her in a 10th Street home during the early-morning hours of Sept. 7.
Orellana was arrested the next day around 2:21 p.m., according to police. A temporary order of protection was also issued.
The woman was treated at Huntington Hospital for bleeding, swelling, bruises and significant pain caused by the assault, officials said.
If convicted of first-degree rape and criminal sexual act charges – both B felonies – Orellana faces up to 25 years in prison.
